CNA - DEMENTIA
PROGRAM CONTENT


The “What Has Happened To Me” Dementia Training Program. The CNA will be able to:
  • Define the term Dementia
  • Identify 5 Disorders that cause Dementia
  • Identify behavioral problems that result from Dementia
  • Develop interventions and strategies for reducing behavioral symptoms
  • Gain a greater understanding of the needs of the resident with Dementia
  • Develop and demonstrate skills to care for the resident with Dementia
  • Be informed of the facility’s physical restraint policies and restraint alternatives.
  • Be able to immediately apply the information learned to care for the resident with Dementia.

Each Lesson Plan has a different objective for teaching the CNA about Dementia.  The Program includes Handouts on different Dementia topics and can be added to other Lesson Plans as the facility requires.

RESTRAINT REDUCTION
PROGRAM CONTENT

The Restraint Reduction program includes the following information:

The Restraint Training Lesson Plan has the objective of teaching the CNA about Restraint Reduction.
